Pair of 7-0 Victories Keep Home Win Streak Going

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's tennis team maintained its' perfect record at home so far this spring, defeating Mills and UC Santa Cruz each by a final of 7-0 to improve to 8-0 in Fresno. The Sunbirds now stand at 12-2 on the season and have just two matches remaining before heading to the PacWest Conference Tournament in Surprise, Ariz.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The match against Mills started late, but the Sunbirds quickly made up time by sweeping doubles in less than 15 minutes.
• Sanne Brulle and Gaya Solomon were the first two Sunbirds to wrap up their match, winning the fifth and sixth flights respectively by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
• Alice Di Matteo gave FPU the clinching fourth point in the third flight, defeating Grace Deaton 6-0, 6-0.
• Ioanna Lathouri followed with another 6-0, 6-0 win in #2 singles before Imane Van Veen posted the same score in the fourth flight.
• Marina Lex picked up the final point of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ashley Tesmer in the top flight.
• FPU picked up where the left off going into the second match, sweeping doubles once again.
• Iglesias made quick work of Savana McDowell in the sixth flight, coming away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory to give the Sunbirds their second point.
• Lathouri then defeated Isabelle Brown 6-0, 6-2 in the second flight, and Di Matteo followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the third to earn the clinching point.
• Lex defeated Ashley Isaac 6-4, 6-0 in the top flight to put the Blue and Orange up 5-0.
• Brull and Di Matteo were the last two Sunbirds to wrap up singles action, but both won their match to give FPU another 7-0 sweep.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Lathouri is now 12-1 in singles action this season.  
• FPU has won four of their last five matches by a final of 7-0.
• The PacWest Tournament begins on April 16.

• The Sunbirds return to the court on Monday afternoon, when they host Biola at Haak Tennis Complex. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
