  • Records: FPU (0-2), HSU (1-1)
  • Location: Golden Gym | San Diego

QUOTABLE:
  • "Today was another inconsistent performance from us. We had stretches where we were solid, but we just have to get more steady and consistent on both sides of the ball," head coach C.J. Haydock said. "We didn't convert layups and free throws, we turned it over, and we had stretches where we were really poor defensively. Spencer Heimerdinger was really good again as a highlight for us, but we need an urgency to get better."

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The 'Jacks controlled the opening tip, and Robert Lewis' second-chance bucket opened the scoring for the night.
  • HSU's Noah Viera dropped a layup the buzzer in the first half, sending the teams to the locker room with the Sunbirds holding a one-point lead.
  • Just after the first media timeout of the second half, freshman Jonathan Brown made a layup that gave FPU a five-point edge, their biggest of the night.
  • The two teams went back and forth for much of the second half, but the 'Jacks went on a 15-8 run over the final six minutes of the night after a Sean Nealon-Lino triple gave FPU a three-point lead.

STATS FROM THE GAME:
  • Heimerdinger was FPU's leading scorer with 17 points, while Coleman turned in his first double-double of the young season.
  • Junior point guard Adrian Antunez handed out seven assists.
  • The Blue and Orange shot 41% from the floor as a team but struggled from behind the arc.
  • HSU won the turnover battle 18-16, while both teams snagged 43 total rebounds.
