Sunbirds Fire Nearly 40 Shots in Defeat of Hawks

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's soccer team created opportunity after opportunity on Tuesday evening, eventually defeating Holy Names 3-0 at Ramirez Field.   
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
  • Final: Fresno Pacific 3, Holy Names 0     
  • Records: FPU (3-10-2, 3-4-2 PacWest), Holy Names (2-10-3, 2-4-2 PacWest)
  • All-Time Series: FPU leads 13-0-1 
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:
  • FPU outshot their guests 38-10, including a 17-8 tally in shots on target.    
  • Birgitta Eggertsdottir racked up eight saves to earn her first clean sheet as a Sunbird. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Since Rob Podeyn took the reigns as head coach, FPU has outshot Holy Names 160-34 in five meetings. 
  • Tuesday night featured the most shots in a game for FPU since Oct. 22, 2016, when the Sunbirds defeated Holy Names 5-0. 
  • Podeyn is now four wins shy of 150 for his career.
  • Tuesday was also the highest-scoring game of the season for the Blue and Orange.
