Sunbirds Fall to LBSU in Exhibition, Home Opener on Tuesday

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team was hit with an exhibition loss on Friday night, falling 93-62 to Long Beach State on the road. Aamondae Coleman led the way for the Sunbirds, posting 20 points in just 17 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Sunbirds controlled the opening tip, but the Beach came away with the first bucket of the night at the other end of the floor. 
  • The two teams went back and forth for most of the first half, but LBSU outscored FPU 20-10 over the final eight minutes to take a 39-29 lead into the intermission. 
  • The home team opened the second half by converting eight straight field goals, while the Blue and Orange struggled to find the stroke on their end.  
  • Long Beach State continued to stay hot for the entire second half, cruising to the big victory. 
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:
  • Sean Nealon-Lino was the only other Sunbird in double-figures, knocking down 50% of his shots from the floor to tally 11 points. 
  • The Beach outrebounded their guests 44-29, but Fresno Pacific narrowly won the turnover battle 21-20.  
  • LBSU's Chance Hunter led the way with 21 points, including a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Coleman has scored in double-figures every time Fresno Pacific has taken the floor this season.
