SANTA CLARA, CALIF. – The Sunbirds opened up day two Rodeo Tournament with a big win over Iona College and then fell in their third game of the tournament to Brown.
INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- - Iona got off to a quick lead as they scored the first two goals of the game. Jacob Fairchild managed to get the Sunbirds on the board, but it was followed by two more Gale goals.
- - Fairchild scored his second goal of the game and first of the second quarter to cut Iona's lead in half. The Gales would tack on three more goals while James Tombough scored the 'Birds third goal of the game. FPU trailed Iona 3-7 going into halftime.
- - Tyler Gentry started off the third quarter with an early goal for the 'Birds and teammate Uros Pelemis followed with three-straight goals to tie the game up at 7-7. Iona took the lead back with a goal with 15 seconds left to play in the third quarter.
- - FPU tied it up with a goal by Nathan Olson but Iona countered with a goal of their own. Fortunately, the Sunbirds responded with four unanswered goals of their own and secured the win.
- - After the end of the first quarter FPU trailed Brown 2-3. Gentry and Pelemis had the 'Birds first two goals of the game.
- - The Sunbirds managed to tie the game up as they headed into halftime behind two goals from Pelemis and one from Curtis Vidinoff.
- - Brown took a one goal lead in the third quarter despite Fairchild and Vidinoff finding the back of the net for the Sunbirds.
- - Vidinoff collected his third goal of the game in the fourth quarter but the Bears managed to score the game winner and edge the 'Birds.
STATS OF THE GAMES:
- - Uros Pelemis had a team high of four goals in the 'Birds win over the Gales.
- - In goal Josh Ramage picked up the win and totaled 13 saves and one save.
- - Pelemis and Vidinoff each recorded a hat trick despite the Sunbirds falling to the Bears from Brown.
