CLOVIS, CALIF. – The Sunbirds hosted Concordia at Clovis East Aquatics Complex in hopes of getting their first WWPA win.
INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:
Final: Concordia 14, Fresno Pacific 11
Records: CUI (7-11), FPU (5-16)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- CUI jumped out to an early lead as they scored the first three goals of the game. Zach Zetz was able to find the back of the net to score FPU's first goal of the game. Jacob Fairchild also managed to cut the Eagles lead to one as he scored with just 30 seconds left.
- Fairchild tied the game up with a goal to start the second quarter of play off of an assist from Gavin Jette.
- Curtis Vidinoff followed with three straight goals to give the Sunbirds their first lead of the game. The Eagles scored back-to-back goals to close out the first half but trailed the 'Birds by one.
- Nathan Olson scored the first goal of the second half but was followed by five CUI goals.
- The Eagles scored their six goal in a row before Tyler Gentry found the back of the net for the 'Birds. CUI managed to score two more goals before Zetz grabbed his second goal of the game.
- With just under two minutes left to play CUI scored their last goal of the game and that was followed by back-to-back Uros Pelemis goals.
STATS OF THE GAMES:
- Cody Wickman lead the team in goals with three and added one assist. Jacob Fairchild continues to be an offensive threat as he scored two goals on six shots and added two assists.
- Josh Ramage totaled 11 saves and one steal in the cage.
