DAVIS, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's water polo team opened the Aggie Roundup on Saturday with three tough matches. The Sunbirds had a solid day offensively, but fell to #15 George Washington 21-15, Chapman 15-9 and #7 UC Santa Barbara 17-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds totaled a season best 15 goals in the opener, but couldn't slow the offense of George Washington. FPU trailed 10-8 at half before a seven-goal third period from GWU made the difference.
• FPU couldn't overcome a slow start to Chapman, as the 'Birds allowed six scores in the opening quarter.
• In the finale, UCSB proved too much too handle as the seventh-ranked Gauchos jumped out to a 7-2 lead before holding off the late surge from the Sunbirds.
STATS OF THE GAMES:
• FPU had eight different scorers in the opening game against George Washington.
Richard Szepesi led the way with five goals in the setback for the 'Birds.
• In the second game of the afternoon, FPU received a game-high four goals from
Kyle Eoff.
•
Jacob Fairchild scored three times in the setback to UCSB.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The 15 goals in the opening match marked a season best for the Sunbirds.
