FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific baseball team ran their win streak to four on Friday, defeating Hawai'i Pacific 6-5 in the opener of a doubleheader before dropping the nightcap by a final of 14-3. Â

GAME 1:Â Â
• After
Alex Garcia retired the side on just 11 pitches to start the game,
Braden Frankfort got the Sunbirds off and running in the home half with a two-run shot off the right field pole.
• HPU first baseman Christian Kapeliela cut the Shark deficit in half with a solo home run to straightaway left in the second, but FPU's
Bryan Honley got the run back with an RBI groundout in the home half.
• A fielding error and two Hawai'i Pacific base hits allowed the Sharks to tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the fifth.
• The Sunbirds again answered in the bottom of the frame, as shortstop
Tristen Alvarez avenged his error with a two-run blast that again put the home nine in the driver's seat.
• Kapeliela struck again in the eighth, connecting on his second longball of the game to pull the Sharks even for the final time.
• Alvarez opened the bottom of the inning with a walk and came in to score on an RBI single off the bat from
Hunter Villanueva, giving the Blue and Orange their final lead of the game.
• Garcia overcame a one-out walk to finish off his third complete game of the season, striking out eight along the way.

GAME 2:
• Hawai'i Pacific scored first, striking for three runs in the fourth before adding four more to the lead an inning later.
• A wild pitch and a sac fly from
Ross Dodds brought in two Sunbird runners in the bottom of the fourth to get the home team on the scoreboard.
• The Sharks turned in their biggest offensive outing in the fifth, racking up five runs to move in front 12-2.
• One final HPU run trotted in to score in the sixth before an
Angel Flores triple gave FPU their final score of the day in the home seventh. Â
