GAME 1:Â Â
• Right hander
Alex Garcia received the starting nod for the Sunbirds and set the tone early for another strong outing, needing just 11 pitches to retire the side in order in the first inning.
•
Jarrett Anton lined out to right to start the scoring in the second, but it was enough to plate
Ross Dodds from third for the first run of the game.
• Garcia pitched himself out of a handful of jams before the Eagles scratched across a run in the seventh to tie the game at 1-1.
•
Derek Arkelian started the Sunbird rally with a one-out walk in the home half, forcing the Eagles to turn things over to the bullpen.
•
Eddie Sievers welcomed reliever Josh Ludeman to the ballgame with a two-run shot over the left field wall, giving the Blue and Orange their final lead of the afternoon.
•
Jonathan Molina replaced Garcia on the mound for the ninth, retiring the side in order to pick up his first career save.
• The Sunbirds snapped a 13-game hitting streak for Biola cleanup man Jerron Largusa, while Dodds reached base for the 14th consecutive game.
• Garcia finished his day with 121 pitches under his belt, scattering three hits and picking up eight strikeouts over eight innings of work.
• Ludeman took the loss for the Eagles, marking his second loss of the series after entering with an undefeated record.
• Over his last three outings, Garcia has totaled 21 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs, and he has gone at least eight innings in each of those performances.
Â
GAME 2:
• A three-run dinger in the fourth put the Sunbirds behind early, and another two innings later helped the Eagles pull away.
• Frankfort doubled home a run in the seventh before
Hunter Villanueva launched his seventh long ball of the season over the wall in straightaway center to cut the deficit to 6-3.
• Biola took advantage of a Sunbird error in the ninth, adding two more unearned runs to push the lead to 8-3.
• Seven FPU hitters contributed a hit, while Villanueva was credited with two of the team's three RBI.
• Starter
Nic Boatman took the loss after surrendering six runs on seven hits over six innings.
• The bullpen turned in a strong outing in the finale, as
Kobie Anton and
