Sunbirds Head South to Face Toros, Lancers

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball is set for a pair of non-conference games this week, visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday and California Baptist on Saturday afternoon. The Sunbirds enter play with the most wins in the PacWest Conference after a successful three-game stint in Hawaii last week.

About the Sunbirds (6-2)
The Blue and Orange posted a 2-1 record in the Aloha State last week, sandwiching a loss to Hawai'i Pacific between wins over Chaminade and Hawai'i Hilo. Against the Vulcans on Monday evening, Bree Alvarez hit five triples en route to a season-high 27 points, while Cassie Pisik rounded out her third double-double of the season after collecting a game-high 16 rebounds. FPU hit seven shots from behind the arc, improving to 5-1 this season when making at least five threes. The Sunbirds have yet to lose the turnover battle in any game this season, committing an average of 10 less than their opponents.

About the Toros (4-2)
Cal State Dominguez Hills opened CCAA play last weekend, picking up road wins against Cal State East Bay and Cal Stay Monterey Bay. In Saturday's 70-48 win over the Otters, five Toros scored in double-figures, highlighted by Lea Anderson's game-high 22 points. Heaven Holmes enters play this week as the team's leading scorer, while Dijour Ledbetter leads the Toros in rebounding. 
 
All-Time Series (FPU vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills)
The Sunbirds and Toros are 4-4 against one another, with the last meeting coming in 2012 in Los Angeles. FPU has never won a road game in the series.
 
About the Lancers (2-6)
CBU is coming off a 1-1 week that saw the Lancers fall to Cal State Northridge by six on Wednesday before bouncing back with a 91-44 win over La Sierra the following evening. Six Lancers got into double-figures againt La Sierra, and CBU committed just seven turnovers for the game. The Lancers will host crosstown rival UC Riverside on Thursday night before seeing the Sunbirds on Saturday.
 
All-Time Series (FPU vs. California Baptist)
FPU is 44-28 all-time against their former conference opponent, though the Sunbirds haven't defeated the Lancers in the last six meetings.
