FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team defeated Pacific Union 100-30 at the Special Events Center on Saturday night, with five Sunbirds scoring in double-figures along the way. Saturday marked the first of five games in ten days for FPU, and the Blue and Orange improved to 3-1 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Julia Locastro helped the Sunbirds control the opening tip before scoring a jumper to give the home team their first and last lead of the night.
• FPU struggled to find the stroke in the first quarter but responded in a big way in the second, outscoring their guests 33-8 to carry a 51-15 lead into the locker room at the intermission.
• The run and gun continued for the Blue and Orange in the second half, as every Sunbird that took the court found the bottom of the net.
• Krystale Gutierrez hit a three on back-to-back possessions to send the game to the fourth quarter, and the 'Birds were able to cruise to the easy victory.
STATS FROM THE GAME:
• Bree Alvarez led all scorers with 15 points in just 12 minutes, while Gutierrez finished on her heels with 13 points off the bench.

Caylee Bock each gave the Sunbirds ten points, with Bock adding a team-high six rebounds.
• Freshman Hanford native
Kate McClard finished with eight points and five assists, while Clovis'
Isabella Naranjo turned in eight points and five boards in her FPU debut.
• Fresno Pacific shot just under 50% from the floor, including a 9-of-22 performance from behind the arc.
• The Sunbirds outrebounded the Pioneers 55-31 for the night while committing half as many turnovers.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Sunbirds reached triple digits for the first time since January 24, 2004, when they defeated Hope International 100-50 at the SEC.
• Saturday night marked the first time this year that five Sunbird players got into double-figures.
