FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific opened the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championships on Friday against top-seed and #10 UC San Diego at the Clovis West Olympic Swim Complex. The Tritons proved too much too handle, as FPU fell 11-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds came out strong in the opening quarter and held the Tritons to three goals, while Kyle Eoff added a score for FPU.
• Joshua Ramage headed the defense for the 'Birds and ended up with 12 saves as halftime approached. FPU trailed 7-3 at the intermission.
• The Tritons then turned on the jets in the second half and outscored the Sunbirds 4-1 to close out the win.
 
STATS OF THE GAMES:
• Ramage played well in the cage and amassed 17saves for the 'Birds.
• Kyle Eoff led the FPU offense with two goals, while Paul Siebenaler and Jacob Fairchild added one score apiece.
• UCSD received three goals from Kacper Langiewicz and Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Sunbirds will play for seventh place on Saturday.
• Ramage matched his season high with 17 saves in the setback.
• UCSD heads to the semifinals on Saturday with the win.
