Sunbirds Visit Bay Area for Two Matches

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team continues its road swing with two matches in the Bay Area this weekend. FPU faces Dominican and Notre Dame de Namur on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

ABOUT THE SUNBIRDS
• Fresno Pacific currently sits at 4-15 overall and 3-7 in the PacWest. FPU most recently fell to Point Loma, 3-2, in San Diego. The Sunbirds came back from a 2-1 deficit to force a deciding fifth set, but PLNU escaped with the win.
Greta Dobenecker had a monster game for the 'Birds, as the senior totaled 48 assists, 18 digs, eight kills and two aces. Carley Bock chipped in with 14 kills.
• The Sunbirds currently rank second in the PacWest in digs per set (16.46), while the offense sits in seventh in kills per set (11.57).

ABOUT THE PENGUINS
• Dominican enters Friday with a 4-12 overall mark and a 2-9 record in PacWest play. The Penguins have lost their last five matches, most recently falling to NDNU 3-2 in Belmont.
• The Penguins rank ninth in the league in hitting percentage (.156), while the defense is seventh in digs per set (15.52). Kate Even leads the team offensively and averages 2.57 kills per set, while Hana Wyles leads the defense with a 4.70 digs per set average.

• FPU leads the all-time series 16-2. The Sunbirds have won the last four meetings, the most recent on Sept. 15 in Fresno 3-0.
 
ABOUT THE ARGONAUTS
• NDNU comes in with a 6-13 overall record and a 5-6 mark in league play. The Argonauts are on a heater and have won their last three matches. The most recent victory came 3-2 at home against Dominican.
• The defense is one of the best in the league as NDNU tops the PacWest in digs per set (18.27). Taylor Garcia comes in averaging 5.27 digs per set, which ranks first in the league.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• FPU leads the all-time series with Notre Dame de Namur 20-5. The Argos defeated the Sunbirds 3-2 on Sept. 17 in Fresno.
