IRVINE, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball was tripped up on Friday night, falling 81-61 to Concordia on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Concordia appeared to be on cruise control early, jumping out to a 23-9 lead in the first eight minutes of the game.
• 
Bree Alvarez helped the Sunbirds get back in it, pouring in 21 first-half points to cut the deficit to four heading to the locker room at intermission.
• The Eagles began the second half on a 12-2 run, allowing them to pull away and hang on for the victory.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Alvarez' 23 points was good enough for a team-best, while Concordia's Montana Walters led all scorers with 25.
• 
Cassie Pisik followed Alvarez with 13 points, while 
Megan Lee and 
Ashley Cross combined for 17.
• Riley Friauf's 10 rebounds went for a game-high, helping the Eagles outrebound their guests 37-23 on the night.
• FPU committed a season-best nine turnovers for the game, while forcing Concordia into 14.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Sunbirds have now won the turnover battle in seven of their first eight league games.
• Cross has led the team in rebounding in each of the last games.
• Friday was the eighth 20-point game of Alvarez' career.
 
UP NEXT:
• The Sunbirds return to action on Monday, when they host longtime rival Point Loma in PacWest Conference action. Tipoff from the Special Events Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
