FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team heads to the West Region Showcase in Monmouth, Ore. from Sept. 7-9. The Sunbirds will play four games in preparation for PacWest play next week.

ABOUT THE SUNBIRDS
• Fresno Pacific opened the season at the Cal State San Marcos Volleyball Classic last week with four games.
• The Sunbirds started with a 3-1 win over Adelphi at the tourney, but then struggled with three straight 3-0 losses to Saint Martin's, Cal State San Marcos and St. Cloud State.
•Kylei Dewar was named to the Cougar Classic All-Tournament Team and leads the team in points per set (3.54).
• FPU is currently hitting .118 as a team, but is averaging 17.54 digs per set.

ABOUT THE PIONEERS
• Cal State East Bay enters at 3-1 overall on the year. The Pioneers hosted the Route 92 Showdown last week.
• CSUEB fell to NDNU (3-2) before rattling off wins against Holy Names (3-1), Dominican (3-0) and Biola (3-2).
• Kiki Leuteneker leads the team with 3.29 kills per set, while Kathy McKiernan is a force at the net and averages 1.12 blocks pet set.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• The Sunbirds hold a 14-0 all-time mark against the Pioneers.
 
ABOUT THE COUGARS
• CSUSM currently stands at 2-2 overall, which includes a victory against the Sunbirds and a win over Adelphi. The Cougars fell to St. Cloud State and Saint Martin's.
• Micah Hebert (3.67 kills per set) and Maddy Newcombe (3.08) power the offense, while Grecia Cordero-Barr (4.50 digs per set) and Aleese Wheaton (4.10) head up the defense for CSUSM.

SERIES HISTORY
• The Cougars hold a perfect 2-0 record against FPU. Prior to Sept. 2, the two teams previously met in 2011.
 
ABOUT THE FALCONS
• Seattle Pacific holds a 2-2 overall record with victories against UC Colorado Springs and Hawai'i Pacific. The losses came against Chaminade and Nebraska Kearney.
• The offense is led by Symone Tran, who averages 9.19 assists per set. Nicole Tchabanov is a strong contributor in the middle with 1.13 blocks per set.

SERIES HISTORY
• FPU leads the all-time series 3-1 over SPU. The last meeting was in 2014 in a neutral site contest won by the Sunbirds.
 
ABOUT THE WOLVES
• Western Oregon sports a 2-1 overall record, with wins over Lubbock Christian and Westminster.
• Alisha Bettinson powers the Wolves offensively with 4.73 kills per set, while Mackenzie Bowen adds 5.73 digs per set on the back line.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• The two teams are even at 2-2 in the all-time series. FPU defeated the Wolves in the last meeting 3-0 in 2014.
