LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's water polo team couldn't keep up with #13 UC San Diego on Thursday afternoon, as the Sunbirds fell to the Tritons in the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) opener 18-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds fell behind 8-0 at halftime and struggled to keep up with the athletic and physical Tritons the rest of the way.
• UCSD outshot the Sunbirds 44-24 on the day.
STATS OF THE GAME:

Kyle Eoff scored the lone goal for FPU in the third period, which was assisted by
Erik Brown.
•
Joshua Ramage headed the defense with a career-best 21 saves for FPU. He also added four steals.
• UCSD received six goals from Arman Momdzhyan and 17 saves from Sam Thompson.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• FPU is 0-3 in WWPA openers since 2015.
• The Sunbirds also faced UCSD in the WWPA opener in 2015, with the Tritons winning 17-5.
UP NEXT:
• FPU is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 16 against Loyola Marymount. The game will be played at Clovis East High School at noon.
