FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team celebrated its seniors in style on Friday night, as the Sunbirds defeated Academy of Art 3-1 in PacWest action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds jumped out to a 2-0 lead against the Urban Knights behind seven kills from Karah Mitchell and 14 assists from Greta Dobenecker.
• After ART U stole set three, the 'Birds hit .297 in the fourth to earn the match victory.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Three Sunbirds finished with double-digit kills, as Mitchell (.375) and Caroline Bodziak led the way with 14 kills apiece and Gabriela Macedo added 10.
• Dobenecker dished out 28 assists for FPU, while Kylei Dewar added four blocks and four service aces.
• Macedo and Tiff Wong headed the Sunbirds' defense with 13 digs apiece.
• FPU held the Urban Knights to .095 hitting on the day and added 10 service aces as a team.
• ART U received 10 kills from Bailey Soolsma in the setback.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Sunbirds honored Mitchell, Malerie Crenshaw and Macedo prior to the match for Senior Night.
• FPU snapped a three-game skid with the win.
• The 10 service aces were the second highest total of the year.
• Macedo totaled her eighth double-double of the season.

• FPU hosts Chaminade on Monday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. The Sunbirds will honor all Veterans in attendance prior to the match.
