LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's water polo team fell in the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) consolation bracket to Concordia, 13-9, on Saturday at Canyonview Aquatic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds had a strong opening quarter and led 4-3 after the first period. The Eagles responded in the second, however, with three goals to enter halftime up 6-5.
• FPU was then outscored 7-4 the rest of the way to fall to CUI.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Erik Brown led the Sunbirds with a hat trick and four steals, while Lazar Raca added two goals and an assist.
• Paul Siebenaler, Garrett Pickford, Richard Szepesi and Kyle Eoff rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece for FPU. Joseph Costa headed the defense with nine saves in the cage.
• Each team finished 4-of-11 on man-up opportunities.
• Angel Rojas proved to be the difference maker, as the Eagle scored six times.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Brown's three goals were a season best for the senior.
 
UP NEXT:
• FPU heads to the seventh-place game and will play on Sunday at 8 a.m. against Loyola Marymount.
