QUOTABLE:
• "We are in a position where we are trying to move this thing forward. We've figured out we can score it a little bit, but we need to clean up a few things defensively. We did a good job of moving the ball inside and out to get our shooters open. We were pretty crisp offensively tonight, but we just turned it over too much." – head coach C.J. Haydock

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• FPU was on fire early and jumped out to a 12-0 lead behind eight points from Toby Christensen. The Sunbirds extended their lead to 21-5 following a dunk from Oliver Herting before heading into the locker room up 41-27.
• The Sunbirds, who led from start to finish, led by as many as 19 in the second half after a bucket and a free-throw from Coleman. The Pioneers surged late and had an opportunity to tie the game, but their last-second shot was missed as time expired.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Coleman led the Sunbirds with 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting, while Jake Straughan added 18 points and four threes.
• Sam Burt was a force in the middle for FPU and totaled a double-double of 13 points (6-of-8 shooting) and 11 rebounds. Sam Holmes scored 12 points (3-of-5 3FG), Christensen added 11 and freshman Adrian Antunez facilitated the offense with six assists while adding 10 points.
• The Sunbirds finished the night with a shooting percentage of .632, as FPU finished the second half with a clip of 78 percent. The 'Birds also out-rebounded PUC 34-20.
• FPU turned the ball over 22 times, however, which rolled into 31 points for the Pioneers.
• Jayson Marquez scored a game-high 28 points for Pacific Union.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• Burt amassed his second double-double of the year in the win for FPU, which matches his career best total for a season.
• Coleman's 20 points proved to be a career best.
• FPU's shooting percentage of .632 is its highest total since the 2015-16 season. FPU shot .655 in a win at Holy Names on Feb. 20 that year.
