LAIE, Hawaii – Fresno Pacific snapped its three-game losing streak with a convincing 97-72 win over BYU-Hawaii on the road in PacWest play on Thursday.
Spencer Krannitz led the way with 25 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while
Madison Higgins added 22 for the Sunbirds.

FPU improves to 9-6 overall and 4-4 in the PacWest with the victory, while BYUH falls to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in league play. The win marked FPU's largest margin of victory (25 points) on the season and the first time the Sunbirds have won in Hawaii since joining the PacWest in 2012-13.

Krannitz made 4-of-5 from three and 9-of-14 from the field for his game-high 25 points, which also marks a career high for the junior.
Roger Paul added 14 points and five assists,
Gabe Solarin totaled 12 points and
Zach Bartley chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.

"I thought we played tough, we played hard and competed at a high level," said head coach
Tim Kisner. "BYU-Hawaii is a really good basketball team, and we did a great job of keeping them off the glass. Our guys valued each possession tonight."

FPU dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Seasiders 54-39 on the night. The Sunbirds also assisted on 25 of their 36 baskets and out-scored BYUH 37-21 in bench points. FPU finished 49 percent from the floor and held one of the highest scoring offenses in the PacWest to 34 percent.

With the score 20-20 midway through the first half, the Sunbirds used a 15-7 run to take control of the period. Higgins started the run with a three pointer, while Krannitz added two from deep to highlight the stretch. FPU led by seven, 43-36, at the intermission.
The Seasiders chipped away at the lead in the second half and came within two with 13:00 to play, but Higgins responded with a three to put FPU ahead 58-53. The Sunbirds then ran off a 37-14 run to jump ahead by 28, its largest lead of the night, before finishing off the victory.

"I thought Madison's three from the corner was the play of the game," noted Kisner. "Overall, I thought we executed our stuff well and got Madison and Spencer good looks. We moved the ball, shared it and made some shots tonight."

Scott Friel led the Seasiders with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Cory Lange and Ian Harward added 11 apiece.
