McLarnan, White light up scoreboard as FPU cruises to victory

Fresno Pacific won its second straight PacWest road game on Saturday night, breezing past Holy Names 76-54 to complete a season sweep of the Hawks. Dakota McLarnan scored 22 points, knocking down six three-pointers, while Keairra White added 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Jenay Herring added eight points, seven rebounds and six assists. Jasmine Shedrick finished with eight points and two blocks.

The Sunbirds (5-17, 5-12 PacWest) shot a sizzling 53% from three-point range while holding the Hawks to less than 30% shooting from the field.

FPU led from start to finish, jumping out to a 21-7 lead after the first ten minutes. The Hawks responded with a 21-9 run to cut the lead to two, but a layup by White and a three-pointer by McLarnan before the half put FPU ahead 35-28 at the break. The Sunbirds ran away with it in the second half, extending the lead to 14 in the first five minutes and not allowing HNU to get any closer.

"We played hard and together for the full 40 minutes," said head coach Lindsey Wilson. "We set the tone on the defensive end and made them work for every bucket. I'm proud of the way this team has kept at it this season and not given up. Tonight, we got quality performances from multiple players on both ends of the floor. Keairra has been really aggressive of late and is doing a great job of attacking the basket and earning trips to the free throw line. Dakota is one of the best shooters in our conference and it was good to see her get in a rhythm tonight."

Garysha Youngblood scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Hawks (2-22, 1-15 PacWest), who lost their 16th straight.

The Sunbirds are back home this Saturday, hosting Dixie State at 2:30 pm for the annual Play 4 Kay Breast Cancer Awareness game.
