RENO, Nev. - Fresno Pacific ran into an athletic and long Nevada team on Wednesday, as the Sunbirds fell to the NCAA Division I Wolf Pack 119-70 in an exhibition at the Lawlor Events Center.
Spencer Krannitz recorded a season-high 17 points for FPU. The junior added three assists and three steals.
Madison Higgins added 14 points and three assists,
Roger Paul had eight points and three assists and
Kiree Hutchings tallied eight points in the setback.
Suhail Mohammadi dished out a team-high six assists.
FPU struggled offensively to open the game, but used a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to five, 22-16, with 6:07 left in the first half. The Sunbirds wouldn't come any closer, however, as the Wolf Pack closed the half on a 10-2 run to lead 46-29 at the intermission. Nevada went on the lead by as many as 54 in the second half.
The Sunbirds won the turnover battle 20-14, but were held to 32 percent shooting on the night and were out-rebounded 60-24. The Wolf Pack shot 60 percent from the field and recorded 50 points in the paint to FPU's 14. Nevada entered the night as the NCAA Division I leader in blocks and added to its total with eight.
Tyron Criswell led the Wolf Pack (6-3) with 26 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Since 2007 the Sunbirds are 2-15 in exhibitions with NCAA Division I programs, with wins over USC (2007) and San Francisco (2008). Nevada now holds a 2-0 all-time series advantage over FPU.
