Fresno Pacific continued its recent hot streak by sweeping PacWest second-place BYU-Hawaii on Saturday. The Sunbirds (10-12, 10-7 PacWest) have won their last five home matches and improved to 7-1 on their home court this season.
The turning point came in set two when the Sunbirds, down 24-23, fought off a BYUH set-point and rallied off three straight points for the win.
Sarah McCann recorded the final two kills in the set and FPU used the momentum to hit .303 in the final frame compared to .026 for the Seasiders.
BYUH (13-11, 11-5 PacWest) struggled to get in a rhythm, committing 11 service errors and 22 attack errors while hitting .131 on the day.
Gabriela Macedo had 10 kills and 13 digs for the Sunbirds.
Hannah Butler led the defense with 16 digs.
Bissie DenHartog dished out 30 assists and recorded four kills (.800) from the setter position.
Montana Lowe added six kills (.357) and a team-high four blocks.
The Sunbirds avenged a 3-0 loss to the Seasiders last month in Hawaii.
FPU continues the homestand next Saturday when they renew their rivalry with former GSAC opponent Concordia.
