HONOLULU - Fresno Pacific battled back from a 2-1 deficit at Chaminade to force a decisive fifth set, but the Sunbirds would be unable to complete the comeback, falling 15-6 in the final frame.
Morghan Williams led the Sunbirds with 14 kills and
Carley Bock added 12. Four players finished with double figure digs, headed up by
Hannah Butler with 20.
Sarah McCann added 13,
Gabriela Macedo finished with 12 and
Chelsea Speaks had 11. McCann had 25 assists for the double-double and also had four service aces on the night.
Bissie DenHartog added a team-high 26 assists.
The Sunbirds fell to 4-10, 4-5 in PacWest play. FPU was out-hit .245 to .153, though the Sunbirds did hit .424 in the four set. The Silverswords (13-4, 6-3 PacWest) got a career-night from Keani Passi (24 kills) and were firing on all cylinders in set five as they hit .625 as team with no errors.
The Sunbirds conclude the road trip tomorrow as they face Hawaii Hilo.
