Turnovers prove costly in loss to NDNU

Fresno Pacific's losing streak reached seven games on Wednesday night as the Sunbirds fell 75-68 to visiting Notre Dame de Namur. The Sunbirds (2-14, 2-9 PacWest) were on the losing end of a sloppy game that featured 54 turnovers between the two teams, including 30 committed by FPU.

Keairra White scored 19 points on a perfect 9-for-9 shooting night to lead the Sunbirds. Dakota McLarnan provided a bright spot as well with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists and six three-pointers. Jasmine Shedrick added 12 points in the loss and Jenay Herring dished out eight assists.

Kirsten Liana scored 24 points and Nanea Woods pulled down 16 rebounds for the Argos (4-16, 2-11 PacWest), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

FPU out-shot the Argos 49% to 45%, but NDNU benefited from a 22-6 free-throw-attempt advantage.

NDNU led by as many as 11 in the first half, going up 23-12 after the first ten minutes before an 8-0 FPU run. The Sunbirds continued that momentum the rest of the half, taking a 35-31 lead into the locker room. McLarnan opened the second half with a three and FPU extended the lead to as many as eight. NDNU would come back to take its first lead of the second half with 10:58 remaining. The Argos would lead by two possessions over the final five minutes.

FPU travels to Dominican this weekend to take on the Penguins on Saturday in San Rafael.
