The Sunbirds closed out their regular season falling 19-12 to #13 Air Force in Colorado Springs on Sunday.
Fresno Pacific was led by Daniel Seymour and Zltako Vlasic who scored three goals in the third meeting of the season between the two teams. Dan Wilson and Glenn Lyon added two each and Justin Lopez-Lamb and Matt Boogaard added one apiece.
The Sunbirds were able to stay in striking distance through the first half going into the break down just two.
In the third quarter the Falcons capitalized on defensive lapses and pulled out to and eight goal lead at 15-8.
FPU matched Air Force in the final quarter but they were unable to overtake the #13 team in the country.
“Today we played great in the first and second quarter,” said head coach Bryan Suhovy. “In the third our defense broke down. We allowed too many counter attacks and Air Force pulled away. Over all I was happy with how we performed this weekend. Even with the altitude change the guys showed a lot of fight and determination.”
The Sunbirds will close out the season with their National Invitational Tournament next weekend in Riverside.
