Fresno Pacific ended their home season on a high note torching Merced 20-5 on senior night.
Senior Glenn Lyon was unstoppable on the night leading both teams in scoring and nearly tying the all-time single game record for goals. Lyon would finish the game with eight in the final home match of his career.
"Glenn is a teddy bear out of the water, but he is a titan in the pool," said head coach Bryan Suhovy. "Division I coaches are scared of him. Their defenses change just to stop him."
Seniors Sascha Ludwig, Dan Wilson and Brian Xicotencatl also scored for the Sunbirds who captured their 11th win of the season. Ludwig and Wilson each scored three while Xicotencatl added one goal.
"Dan has come in this season and I wish we could have had him for four," said Suhovy. "(Brian's) attitude his work and his personality are great. He just works hard. He is a motivator and an encourager. Sascha came in as a small little freshman and afraid to do anything and all of the sudden he is our team captain. He is our leader."
Daniel Seymour, Zltako Vlasic and Daniel Schinichev were the other Sunbirds to record goals on the night.
Jake Finney was great in goal allowing just five goals while stopping 12 shots by the Blue Devils. Finney and the FPU defense allowed just six goals in two games against Merced this season.
Fresno Pacific will be back on the road this weekend in Colorado Springs in the Air Force Tournament.
