Fresno Pacific was unable to overtake #20 Concordia as they dropped their first home match of the season 20-9.
The Sunbirds were overmatched by a pair of six goal performances from drivers Jacob Pril and Andras Antal.
Both teams went back and forth in the first quarter that ended 3-2 in favor of Concordia. A big second quarter, in which the Eagles outscored FPU 8-2, ultimately undid Fresno Pacific's chances.
“Concordia is a solid team, solid program,” said head coach Bryan Suhovy. “We knew coming in it was a tough game.”
Goalkeeper Jake Finney battled in goal to keep the Sunbirds in the match, he finished with 12 saves on the night.
Ian Roos led the way for Fresno Pacific with three goals followed by freshman Daniel Seymour and senior Glenn Lyon with two each. Andreas Sahlberg and Zltako Vlasic also chipped in with a goal each.
“We were down three key players today,” said Suhovy. “So it hurt not having the depth we normally have. That took its toll on us and we just didn't execute.”
FPU will be back in action Thursday when the Sunbirds take on California Baptist at the Sunnyside Aquatics Center. The match is set to begin at 7:30 pm.
