San Marcos, Calif. - Just one minute after tying the game, FPU surrendered the eventual game-winning goal in a 2-1 loss at CSU San Marcos.

Gustavo Silva scored the Sunbirds' goal on a cross from Paul Islas in the 77th minute, but the Cougars' Alex Jaziri answered just a minute later, blasting a ball in off a loose ball. CSUSM's Jordan Shadeed had scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute to put the Cougars ahead after a scoreless first half.

The loss dropped FPU to 3-3 on the year, while the Cougars improved to 5-3. The Cougars out-shot the Sunbirds 13-7, including 11-3 in the second half.

The Sunbirds are back home next Saturday for their GSAC opener, hosting San Diego Christian at 2:30 pm.
