IRVINE, Calif. – No. 1 Fresno Pacific (16-0, 6-0 GSAC) passed a big test on Saturday, sweeping No. 2 Concordia (18-1, 5-1 GSAC) in a Golden State Athletic Conference match.

The Sunbirds took all three sets 25-18, 25-22, 25-18 in a rematch of last year's NAIA championship showdown.

Mariah Mandelbaum led the Sunbirds defense with 18 digs while #Lauren Albertson#, Tiffany Marinos, Lisa Shilling and Michelle Johnson each contributed a pair of blocks.

Coach Dennis Janzen was pleased with his team's play against the GSAC rival: “Whenever you have a No. 1 and a No. 2, especially on the road, everyone needs to play well.

“[Concordia] has been the best team we've faced all year so far, and everyone really stepped up.”

The Sunbirds will need to continue their elite play as they travel to face No. 8 Azusa Pacific (14-4, 5-1) on Tuesday (Sept. 29) at 7 p.m.
