Sunbirds gain experience against top-ten team, but fall 7-17

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Fresno Pacific (13-11) came out flat against a difficult UC Santa Barbara team, and despite building some momentum in the second half, still fell 7-17 to the Gauchos.

The Sunbirds were shutout in the first quarter 0-4, and trailed 1-7 at the half.  However, the Sunbirds really fought back scoring six goals in the second half.  Milorad Pavlovic led the Sunbirds with three goals while Glen Lyon finished with two.  Tim Kahn and Krisztian Kovacs each put in a goal apiece as well.

Riley Warner had seven saves for the game.

Coach Brian Suhovy complimented his team, “I feel we played well against a top-ranked team in the nation. It was a great opportunity to play a strong team and learn from them to gain more experience.”

“We'll now take that experience and grow from it, so we are more prepared for next season.”  But before next season, the Sunbirds will wrap up this season with their final match against Fresno State and then the NAIA National Invitational.

The Sunbirds will take on Fresno State on Wednesday, November 11 at 7 p.m.
