OAKLAND, CA. -- The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team opened tournament play Friday in the Holy Names University Tip-Off, falling to Cal State Maritime, 74-64.
The Keelhaulers got off to a 42-27 halftime lead, but FPU closed the gap to finish within 10 points.
The Sunbirds were led by
Jessica Torrecillas who recorded a double double.
To the concern of FPU head coach
Meredith Pulliam, Fresno Pacific was unable to take advantage at the foul line. "Missing 16 free-throws killed us," acknowledged Pulliam.
The Sunbirds will play host Holy Names on Saturday in a rematch, having lost to the Hawks on October 30th 76-66. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
