Sunbirds come up short in championship match

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Fresno Pacific (3-2) opened their tournament play this weekend against host Cal Lutheran (2-3), and despite a run in the third quarter, dropped game one 7-9.

Cal Lutheran led at half 6-3 , but the Sunbirds made it a game with three goals in the third, to pull within one . However, Cal Lutheran held on to their lead to win.

Gabe Calderon and Milorad Pavlovic led the Sunbirds with two goals apiece while Jay Friend, Charlie Marusich and Luke MacAlpine each tallied one goal.

Fresno Pacific will rebound tomorrow against Whitter and Occidental to finish up at the Cal Lutheran Fall Tournament.
