After working faithfully as the women's assistant coach since the program's inception in 2001, Erik Farfan took over the head coach responsibilities from Jaime Ramirez just prior to the 2006 season.

Farfan’s passion for soccer has been evident since he completed his collegiate playing career at Fresno State. He has coached numerous club teams and most recently spent five years as the varsity girls coach at Buchanan High School. Farfan led the Bears multiple league and Valley championships. Farfan has also served as the women’s assistant coach at Fresno City College.

Farfan is highly regarded in the Central Valley. He was named the Fresno Bee Coach of the Year in 2006 and in 2009. He also gained distinction as the Clovis All-City Coach of the Year (2005 & 2006) and Tri-River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (2005 & 2006).

Farfan graduated from Fresno State with a bachelor's degree in mass communications and journalism in 1997. He then completed a master's degree in kinesiology at Fresno State, and was awarded the graduate student research merit award.
