Rayna Harris was named head coach of the FPU Cheer program in April 2020. A former Sunbird cheerleader herself, Harris was a two-year team captain during her undergraduate years and remains deeply committed to the program that helped shape her.  Under her leadership, the Sunbird Cheer team has earned medals in the College Gameday divisions at the USA Collegiate Championships for three consecutive years, continuing to elevate the program’s competitive profile.

Prior to leading FPU Cheer, the Fresno native spent five seasons coaching junior high and varsity cheer at Fresno Christian Schools, where she was once a student-athlete herself, and Sanger High School as head JV coach.

Harris graduated from FPU with a bachelor's in Communication Studies and master’s in Strategic and Organizational Leadership. In addition to her coaching duties, she also serves the university as the Director of Student Engagement in the Office of Student Development.
