Jim Connolly

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Jim Connolly brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the Fresno Pacific women’s basketball program. He joined the staff prior to the 2024–25 season.

A standout guard at Thomas Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University), Connolly amassed over 1,500 career points and ranks among the program's all-time leaders in three-pointers made. He was a three-time All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) selection and served as team captain during his senior year. Connolly was also honored as the team's Most Valuable Player in both 2011 and 2012.

Transitioning into coaching, Connolly served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, contributing to multiple NCAA tournament appearances and CACC championships. He then took the helm as head coach of the women’s basketball team at Chestnut Hill College, where he led the Griffins to their first NCAA tournament appearance, a program-record 24 wins in a season, and earned the CACC Coach of the Year award in 2022.

Jim and his wife relocated to the Central Valley, and after getting to know him, it became a no-brainer to add him to the FPU coaching staff. His extensive experience, relational approach, and deep understanding of the game quickly proved to be a perfect fit.

At FPU, Connolly plays a pivotal role in player development, focusing on skill enhancement and basketball IQ. His player-first mentality and commitment to excellence make him an invaluable part of the Sunbirds’ staff.

“Jim brings both passion and precision to our team and cares deeply about showing up with a positive attitude. His love for the game and coaching is only outdone by his care to serve his players on and off the court. His experience at the highest levels of college basketball and his commitment to player development are exactly what we need to elevate our program. We were fortunate to add Jim to our staff and excited about what he will lead us in going forward.”
