Hernandez joined the Fresno Pacific coaching staff in 2005 works specifically with the Sunbird pole vaulters.
A graduate of Fresno State (BA '03, Liberal Studies), Hernandez competed in cross country and track & field for the Bulldogs, helping the team win the WAC championship in 2002 and earning Academic All-American honors. She went on to compete for the NAPVA and was given the honor to be a part of an elite development program that traveled and competed in Japan.
While at Fresno State she worked with coaches in a coaching development program where she assisted in workouts, recruiting, and teaching classes. She also helped set up and put on clinics, summer track camps, and The National Pole Vault Summit. Hernandez has also coached and taught at Bullard High School.
A 1998 graduate of Turlock High School, Hernandez once held the school's pole vault record.
She and her husband Carlos have three children, Brennon, Mason and Dax. They attend The Bridge Church in Fresno.
