After serving as Senior Associate Athletic Director for four years, Mike Rupcich joins the FPU baseball coaching staff. He brings with him a wealth of experience as a player and a coach, having worked as the head assistant at Fresno State from 1976-2002.

While at Fresno State, he was the team's hitting coach, third base coach and recruiting coordinator. He was a part of 15 conference championships, 19 NCAA Regional appearances, and two College World Series teams. The Bulldogs compiled a 968-510 record during his tenure with the program and he would coach 25 NCAA All-Americans. Rupcich was inducted into the Fresno State Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996.

Rupcich played baseball at Arizona State from 1970-1972, spending time at shortstop, third base and catcher. As one of the team's most feared hitters, he helped the Sun Devils to a 144-41 record in his career, including a College World Series Runner-Up finish in 1972.

In 1970, Rupcich batted .367 and would set Arizona State’s school record for most RBIs in a game with seven against Wisconsin.

Rupcich was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 1972 and played three years in the minor leagues. While playing with Walla Walla of the Class A Northwest League, he led the league in assists for catchers with 46. In 1973, he played with Amarillo of the Texas League, Decatur of the Midwest League and Fresno of the California League.

In 2002 he became the Director of Events at Fresno State. His responsibilities included oversight and coordination of the university's athletic events as well as the day-to-day supervision of multiple venues, and scheduling all upcoming and on-going events within the athletic department.  He co-chaired the Western Athletic Conference Basketball Championship in 2004, and was the Tournament Director for the Women's NCAA Softball Regional Tournament in 2003 and 2005.  He also chaired the 2005 and 2006 Women's NCAA Basketball Championships held at the Save Mart Center.

In 2007 he became FPU's Senior Associate Athletic Director overseeing the internal operation of the athletic department, the athletic budget, game operations, gym management and facilities.

Mike has been married to his wife, Marcie, for 41 years. They have four grown children: Larry, Nathan, Renee and Ryan.  Mike attends Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he is active in the men's club and serves as an usher for Sunday morning mass.
