FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno Pacific volleyball setter Mikayla Weiss was named the FloCollege/CCAA Setter of the Week following a dominant performance at the Sunbird Classic, where she helped lead the Sunbirds to a perfect 3-0 weekend. The Clovis-Calif. graduate is the first female Sunbird to receive this conference honor.

Weiss orchestrated the Fresno Pacific offense throughout the tournament, averaging 10 assists per set while helping the Sunbirds secure victories over Jessup (3-0), Western Oregon (3-0) and Hawai'i Hilo (3-1).

The 2025 PacWest Setter of the Year opened the tournament with 31 assists against Jessup before recording 28 assists against Western Oregon. Weiss saved her best performance for the tournament finale, finishing with a season-best 41 assists against Hawaii Hilo. Over the course of three games, the graduate setter reached 100 total assists in addition to collecting 20 digs, 14 kills, and five aces overall. Weiss currently leads the conference in assists while also ranking 10th in hitting percentage.

Coming off the sweep of a weekend, Fresno Pacific volleyball climbed the AVCA national rankings from 11th in the nation to ninth, surpassing the Top-10 mark. The Lady 'Birds remain the highest ranked team in the CCAA conference.

NEXT UP:  It's four games in three days at the Ice Block Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska.  The action starts Thursday, September 3^rd against Minnesota State University Mankato, with games against Tiffin University and West Region powers Alaska-Anchorage and Alaska-Fairbanks to follow.
