FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the 2026 FPU Athletics Hall of Fame class. Five individuals and five teams whose accomplishments and contributions reflect the highest standards of the university's athletic tradition will be the latest to join this distinguished collective of memorable Viking and Sunbird alumni.

The 2026 inductees are:
 
"Our Hall of Fame celebrates the individuals and teams who built the tradition of excellence at Fresno Pacific Athletics," said Kyle Ferguson, FPU Director of Athletics. "As we bring this event back for the first time since 2019, we are proud to recognize a class of student-athletes and teams that represent excellence across multiple sports, championship seasons, and generations of Sunbirds."

The 2026 class will be inducted during a ceremony and brunch on Saturday, October 3^rd. The Hall of Fame induction will coincide with FPU's annual Friends & Family Weekend, with specific events to gather and honor each team throughout the weekend, among which the 2003 Men's Soccer team will be recognized at halftime of the Men's Soccer game against Menlo College at 7pm.  More details regarding the Hall of Fame events will be announced.  
One of the most decorated Sunbirds in Fresno Pacific history, women's swimmer Cheyenne Coffman holds program records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and the 100- and 200-yard backstroke while also contributing to three school-record relays. At the NAIA Championships, she won eight individual national titles and helped Fresno Pacific capture 10 relay titles as well as the 2012 National Championship. Coffman holds the all-time NAIA record in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke and was named the NAIA Outstanding Swimmer in both 2010 and 2012. Coffman was a three-time All-American and capped off her illustrious Sunbirds career with a FPU Athletics Senior of the Year award in 2012.

Orlando Ramirez established himself as one of the most prolific players in Fresno Pacific men's soccer history, earning three All-America selections and the 2002 GSAC Player of the Year award. He remains the GSAC's all-time leader in goals scored and ranks second in FPU history in career goals (76), assists (48), points (200) and game-winning goals (17). His remarkable 2003 season produced school records of 31 goals and 77 points. Ramirez was later selected 31st overall by the San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS Draft - the highest draft position ever for an FPU player - and was recognized as FPU's Freshman Athlete of the Year in 2002 and Senior Athlete of the Year in 2005.

Shu Liu is one of the most dominant student-athletes in FPU volleyball history, earning first-team NAIA All-America honors in each of her four seasons and twice being named the NAIA National Player of the Year. The two-time National Champion, three-time GSAC Player of the Year and four-time GSAC Setter of the Year was also a four-time All-GSAC selection, a three-time NAIA All-Tournament Team honoree and the MVP of the 2007 NAIA National Tournament. Liu remains FPU's career leader in attack percentage at .447, ranks second in assists per set at 12.92 and third with 4,851 career assists, while also holding the program's single-match record with 72 assists against Biola in 2007. She owns the top two single-season marks in program history for both assists per set and attack percentage and concluded her career by being named the FPU Athletics Senior of the Year.

During the early days of FPU Sunbirds baseball, Case Rigby emerged as the program's first superstar at the plate during his career from 2007-2010. He remains the program's career leader in hits (231), home runs (26) and RBI (158), while ranking second in doubles (50) and runs scored (140), and third with a .359 career batting average. Rigby's historic 2010 season included a program-record 76 RBI, along with the second-highest batting average (.396), hit total (82) and home run total (10) in school history and the third-highest slugging percentage (.662). He also recorded 81 hits in 2009, which ranks third on FPU's single-season list, and was a key contributor to FPU's NAIA World Series appearance in 2009.

One of the most accomplished offensive players in Fresno Pacific women's soccer history, Ashley Sherr finished as the program's career leader in goals (33) and points (86), while ranking second in assists (19) and tied for first in game-winning goals (9). A two-time All-GSAC First Team selection in 2008 and 2009 with an unmatched ability on the ball, Sherr also earned FPU Offensive Player of the Year honors twice, was a NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week, and remains prominently featured throughout the program's single-season record book.

In just its third season as a program, Fresno Pacific men's swimming captured its first NAIA national championship in 2010, dominating the field by more than 150 points after finishing as the national runner-up the previous year. The Sunbirds repeated as champions in 2011, defeating rival California Baptist by more than 100 points while setting three NAIA national records and receiving points from all 18 swimmers at the meet. Built on exceptional depth, leadership and resilience, FPU won the first two national titles in program history during its first four seasons of competition. Head coach Peter Richardson was named NAIA Men's Coach of the Year three consecutive times as the Sunbirds quickly established themselves as one of the nation's premier swimming programs.

Fresno Pacific baseball won back-to-back NCCAA World Series championships in 2014 and 2015, finishing each season with 39 victories and compiling a combined 78-37-1 record. The 2014 Sunbirds finished 39-19, won their final nine games and went undefeated at the World Series to capture the program's first NCCAA national title. FPU followed with a 39-18-1 season in 2015, again advancing through the national tournament without a loss and defeating Lee University in the championship game for the second consecutive year. Across the two title runs, the Sunbirds went 11-0-1 at the World Series and established themselves as one of the NCCAA's premier baseball programs. FPU would have 10 players receive All-PacWest honors during the two-season span.
