HONOLULU, Hawaii - Fresno Pacific men's basketball slowed down Hawaii Pacific's run at the top of the conference with a 64-57 victory on Saturday night. The Sunbirds capitalized on their rebounding advantage, out-rebounding their opponents 46-25, to maintain control throughout the game.
Fresno Pacific opened the game with strong momentum, quickly establishing a lead with
Logan Kilbert's 3-pointer at 18:13. The Sunbirds dominated inside the paint, scoring 20 points, and capitalized on fast breaks with nine points.
Harrison Pennisi contributed significantly with defensive rebounds and a late free throw, ensuring the Sunbirds maintained their lead. Hawaii Pacific struggled offensively, shooting just 25 percent from the field. The half concluded with Fresno Pacific ahead, 32-18.
The 'Birds maintained its lead in the second half, starting with an early layup by
Isaac Peralta just 13 seconds in. Despite numerous turnovers, the Sunbirds held their ground with significant contributions from the bench, including a key 3-pointer by
Amar Hot at 12:50. Hawaii Pacific attempted to close the gap with strong play from its bench but struggled to gain momentum. A final driving push by the Sharks in the last three minutes nearly tied it up, but the half ended with Fresno Pacific leading 64–57.
Peralta scored 16 points and recorded three steals, displaying efficiency with 6-of-9 shooting from the field. Switzer collected 11 rebounds and added eight points, contributing significantly on the boards. Davidson contributed with five assists, facilitating the offense effectively. Kilbert posted 10 points, converting 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and finishing perfect from the free-throw line.
