FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific women's volleyball team opened the Sunbird Classic in style, securing two exciting victories on the first day of play. The 'Birds rallied for a hard-fought five-set win over Stanislaus State to kick off the season, marking their first season-opening victory since 2021. They carried that momentum into the night, sweeping Chico State in straight sets (27-25, 25-21, 25-15) at the Special Events Center.
"What a day! It's great to see everyone in it and ready to battle so early in the season," said head coach
Kelsee Montagna. "Stan State is big, and we knew they were going to be physical. I would rather we be challenged right now than not to be. I think the biggest win today is how each player responded. We talk a lot about chemistry on the court and sometimes we need different things in specific moments - so it's great to see so early on that everyone is ready at any given moment."
