FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno Pacific women's soccer team and Hawaii Pacific battled to a scoreless draw on Saturday evening, marking the Sunbirds' second consecutive shutout of the season.
The first half commenced with both the Sunbirds and Sharks vying for control. The Sunbirds'
Takoah Castillo initiated an early scoring attempt with a shot in the 8th minute that went high. Goalkeeper
Ayana Kirisimasi was pivotal for the Blue and Orange, making a crucial save in the 13th minute on a stray shot by a Shark.
Anderson had a notable attempt on goal for the Sunbirds in the 20th minute, but her shot was saved by Hawaii Pacific's goalkeeper at the last second. Kirisimasi continued to anchor the defense with another save in the 27th minute. As the half concluded, neither team had broken through, leaving the score at 0-0.
The second half began with the Sunbirds pressing forward, evidenced by a corner kick in the 54th minute and another in the 65th minute. Despite multiple attempts on goal, including shots by Cano Ledezma and Anderson, the Sunbirds were unable to convert.
As the half progressed, both teams struggled to break the deadlock. The Sunbirds maintained pressure, earning several corner kicks and creating opportunities, but Hawaii Pacific's defense held firm. The half concluded with the score remaining 0-0, as neither team could capitalize on their chances.
The Sunbirds stand at 0-4-2 overall with a 0-0-2 record in PacWest conference play.
