Castaneda Earns Defender of the Week; 'Birds Ranked 12th in Nation

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Fresno Pacific women's volleyball team recently captured their twentieth win and are still moving up the national rankings! Multiple Sunbirds have stepped up to the plate to keep the streak alive, specifically libero Devyn Castaneda whose brilliant performance against Hawaii Pacific led to her first PacWest Defender of the Week award.

She was remarkable on the court and contributed to the clean 3-0 sweep over Hawaii Pacific. Castaneda delivered a strong performance with five service aces (a season-high) and 21 digs. She has tallied 281 digs and 21 service aces thus far. She is seventh in the conference in digs (281) and fifth in digs per set (4.07).

As of Monday afternoon, Fresno Pacific volleyball is now ranked 12th in the nation. The women's team has climbed the AVCA national poll due to their 20-0 record and the shortcomings of other teams in the Top 10. On top of that, the undefeated 'Birds reign supreme in conference with their upstanding 8-0 record, surpassing No. 5 Point Loma who sits in second place.

NEXT UP: The No. 13 Sunbirds are back in action Monday, Nov. 3 at 6 pm as they host Hawai'i Hilo. Come down to the Special Events Center and cheer on your ranked 'Birds!
