Leyva-Camberos Promoted to Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific University Director of Athletics Morgan Walker announced the promotion of Whitney D. Leyva-Camberos as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Fresno Pacific on Tuesday.  
  
 "The hiring of Whitney is great for FPU Athletics," Walker said. "She is personable and a great role model for our department. Not only does she bring knowledge and experience to this position, but she energy and excitement to the growth and welfare of our student-athletes, the Fitness Center and Athletics overall."
 
Before being named the head coach, Leyva-Camberos joined the Sunbirds as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in January of 2020. In that role, she customized monthly exercise programs to fit individual needs for specific sports. Leyva-Camberos also works as a part-time faculty member at FPU teaching one-unit courses with a focus on weight training. 
 
Leyva-Camberos studied at CSU Fullerton, earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a focus on Clinical Exercise in 2013. She'd go on to get her Master of Science in Kinesiology with a focus on Strength and Conditioning in 2016 from CSU Fullerton. 
 
Leyva-Camberos holds certifications with the National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning and Personal Trainer (CSCS*D & NSCA-CPT*D). She's also an NSCA Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach (RSCC). Leyva-Camberos is First Aid, CPR, AED-BLS certified, is a Precision Nutrition, PN1, and more. 
 
"It is with great pleasure I accept to collaborate with the coaches and athletes of Fresno Pacific University to continue developing a successful Strength and Conditioning program," Leyva-Camberos said. "As a homegrown native to the Central Valley, this is where I want to be. My driving motivator is to see the growth of my athletes reach peak performance for a successful season. I will continue to mentor athletes and inspire the mental dexterity of grit and work ethic through all their challenges. I look forward to executing exciting new plans and continue growing FPU strong."
