QUOTABLE:
  • "It's unfortunate when you dominate and deserve to win but it doesn't work out that way. We controlled the game, dominated the midfield and outshot them. We just came up short where it counts – on the scoreboard. We showed definite improvements in this game and are continuing to get better. This was our best performance of the year so far." – head coach Rob Podeyn

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • - The Warriors struggled to cross midfield for a good portion of the first half, but each Sunbird attack was unsuccessful through the first 45 minutes.
  • - Stanislaus State finally broke through with a goal in the game's 64th minute before finding another ten minutes later to go up two scores.
  • - FPU's 14th shot of the night was the first one to sneak past Warrior keeper Haley Crook, but Stanislaus State was able to limit the Sunbirds to just one goal and remain undefeated.
SCORING:
  • (63:56) A quick pass through the FPU back line found the right foot of Mayah Chambers, who launched a long range shot that found its' way into the back of the net.
  • (73:53) Jadyn Bush passed to Chambers on the left wing, allowing her to slot the ball to Ilena Rivera inside the box. Rivera fired toward the left post to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.
  • (75:11) Rachel Anderson connected with Mackenzie Reynolds inside the box, and Reynolds answered with her first goal of the season.
STATS:
  • The Sunbirds outshot their hosts 19-9, including a 10-6 mark in shots on frame.
  • Crook racked up nine saves, while FPU's Alexandra Benevidez was credited with four of her own.
  • The Pioneers took four of the seven corner kicks for the night.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • - The Blue and Orange have outshot each of their opponents on the young season.
  • - Dating back to 2015, FPU has dropped its last ten contests against schools in the California Collegiate Athletic Conference.
  • - The Sunbirds set season-highs in saves, shots and corner kicks in Monday's game.
