POMONA, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's soccer team was tripped up on Tuesday evening, falling 4-2 to Cal Poly Pomona in the second of four consecutive road matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbird held down the potent Bronco offense for more than 20 minutes, but reigning CCAA Player of the Week Sergi Monso got the home team on the scoreboard first.
• Cal Poly Pomona scored two goals within 43 seconds to push the lead to 3-0 entering the half.
• FPU broke through with a score in the game's 68th minute before adding another goal on a penalty kick with four minutes to play.
• Fresno Pacific committed a late foul that allowed the Broncos to score their fourth goal of the game.
SCORING:

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Both teams took 13 shots on the night, though Cal Poly Pomona put more of them on frame (7-5).
• The two squads totaled five corner kicks for the night, with the Broncos taking three of them.
• The game featured 22 combined fouls and seven yellow cards.

• Monso has now scored multiple goals in two of his first three games, and he is more than a third of the way to his total from last fall.
• Velarde and Souza have now combined for four of FPU's five goals this season, with the other being Loren Freiesen's game-winner over Stanislaus State.
• Cal Poly Pomona has now scored at least four goals in all three games, though the Sunbirds were within three seconds of reversing that trend.
