QUOTABLE:
• "We led a good team for 36 minutes tonight, but at the end of the game, we weren't able to get one last stop. Losing at the buzzer is always tough, but we will move forward after a good weekend of competing and executing at a high level. We have things we must improve on, but we look forward to starting conference play next week." - head coach
Tim Beauregard
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• For the second consecutive game, FPU's opponent controlled the opening tip, but
Jessica Malazarte came away with the first bucket of the game.
• The Blue and Orange turned in the most lopsided quarter of the game in the first quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 23-13.
• The Sunbirds connected on 47% of their shots in the first half, working out to a 37-32 lead at the intermission.
• CSUEB connected on more than half their shot attempts in the second half, taking their first lead of the game with 4:39 to play.
• With the Sunbirds trailing 73-72 and eight seconds on the clock, Malazarte was fouled and hit both free throws to give FPU a one-point edge.
• The Pioneers got the ball to senior Bri Guillory, who scored the game-winning bucket with one second remaining.
STATS OF THE GAME:
•
