Herring and White play final games as FPU concludes season

Jenay Herring scored 15 points and Keairra White added 13 in the final collegiate game for both FPU seniors as Fresno Pacific dropped its season finale 67-49 at Azusa Pacific.

The two senior guards combined for 2,548 pts, 659 rebounds, 552 assists and 333 steals in their FPU careers. Herring will graduate among the program's all-time leaders in numerous categories: points (1524, 2nd), three-pointers made (150, 2nd), assists (447, 3rd), steals (247, 3rd), free throws made (414, 3rd), field goals made (480, 7th) and free throw percentage (74.2%, 8th). White finished with 1,024 career points.

"Jenay and Keairra have meant so much to our team, both in terms of what they've brought on the court as well as their immeasurable contributions to the overall growth of the program," said head coach Lindsey Wilson. "We're going to miss them and they've really helped lay the foundation for what we're building here."

In Saturday's game, FPU struggled against the much bigger Cougars, being out-rebounded 57-39 and shooting just 25% on the day.

Erisha Talley grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for the Sunbirds. Jasmine Shedrick had two blocks, giving her 68 on the year, the third most all-time at FPU for a single season (trailing only two seasons by career blocks leader Andrea Angulo).

Kelly Hardeman had 14 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Cougars (18-9, 14-6 PacWest), who clinched the #4 seed in the PacWest tournament.

FPU ends the season with a record of 6-19, 6-14 in PacWest play.

"This season has been a lesson that has given everyone a chance to grow and gain experience," said Wilson. "While many teams would have quit, this team showed a lot of fight as the season wore on. Even though our record may not reflect it, the progress we have made as a team has been tremendous and we are looking forward to what the future holds."
