Jim Farmer established himself as one of the finest sprinters in Central California track and field history during his career at Fresno Pacific from 1966 through 1969.
Known as an intense, yet quiet and respectful competitor, Farmer had some of the nation's best times in the pre-metric era, including a career-best 9.4 seconds in the 100 yard dash. In the U.S. Olympic Trials, Farmer ran 20.9 seconds in the 220 yard dash, which would still be highly regarded today at the national level.
Farmer, a graduate of Lemoore High School, also anchored record-breaking relay teams in 4x110 (40.9) and 4x220 (1.25), including top-three finishes in the West Coast Relays College Division while representing Fresno Pacific. In 1968, Farmer's 21.0 in the 220 yard dash was a NAIA national season best.
Farmer is retired and resides in Fresno, California.
